WELCOME TO THE ART HOUSE
WITH
MS STRAUSS

A digital portfolio for the K-5 artists of Blossomwood Elementary, Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, and Morris P-8 schools.

Making art is a complex process, and although it takes a genius to create a masterpiece, all artists have the ability to create wonderful works of art.

In my classroom, we focus on collaboration, fairness, and emotional intelligence. In the "real" world, artists collaborate, support, and inspire each other. I promote these, and other, community building concepts in the classroom. From my point of view, we are a family of artists, working together to share the joy of creative expression with the world. . .

The "Art House with Ms. Strauss" title was the most fitting name. This site houses our art work in the format of a digital showcase. In this way, parents, family members, and classmates can view our creations, no matter their location.

My mission, as an artist and a teacher, is to create a safe place for our youngest community members to share their ideas and practice their ability to effectively communicate through visual representations. My goal is to provide them with the best tools for creating art, developing their craft, and inspiring them to participate as vital members of the artists' community.

A FAMILY OF ARTISTS

The "Art House" serves as the online showcase for our little family of budding artists.

#GoodVibesOnly

In this space, we are supportive of each other, as we learn about self-expression, emotional intelligence, collaboration, to develop fine motor skills, problem solving skill, and to explore concepts of critical thinking. Art is an important part of a child's educational career and supports the furtherance of the 21st Century Skills that young learners will need to be successful.

#ArtIsEverywhere

The children in my classroom are truly a Collective of Artist, working together to complete “Daily Design Challenges.” I work hard to create a space where all learners feel safe to express themselves. I want them to have the emotional freedom to take artistic risks. This will help them to discover new ways of communicating their ideas about Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, (STEM) with cross-cutting concepts in Social Studies, English Language Arts, and Literacy.
